Plot a Continuing Line in Matlab With Given Points

There are obviously massive spoilers ahead!

1. First, the beloved Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet was tragically canceled after Season 3, which left us with a lot of unanswered questions. The show now ends with Sheila biting Joel in order to save his life after he's bit.

At the time, creator Victor Fresco said he could makeSanta Clarita Diet Season 4 the final season if necessary; however, he originally envisioned the show running more than five seasons. He explained, "I sort of imagined it going five years — that seemed about right to me. I think the relationship is interesting and fun and emotional and loving enough that you could want to stay with the Hammonds for a long time because they're wonderful, so there's always stuff there for us to mine. The rest is just story work, which we can certainly do."

2. Agent Carter, one of MCU's first TV shows, sadly only lasted two seasons before it ended. Season 2 finished with Thompson getting shot in his hotel room and the shooter stealing a file on Peggy Carter.

At Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in London in 2017, Hayley Atwell opened up about what could've happened in Agent Carter Season 3. She revealed the next season would've explored Peggy's past a bit more. Then, in 2019, Hayley said it's "fantastic" that fans still love her portrayal of Peggy and she would "consider" coming back if Agent Carter were revived, only if it could "top" her final moment in Avengers: Endgame. Recently, Hayley has lent her voice to Peggy Carter in the Disney+ series What If...?

3. After 71 episodes, Young and Hungry ultimately came to a close without a proper finale. So, the final scene of the show consists of Gabi proposing to Josh and asking him to move with her to Seattle.

While filming season 5, the cast and creative team were certain they would get renewed for season 6; however, Freeform canceled them instead. Emily Osment even said that the cast believed "without a doubt" they would be returning, saying, "You can't predict anything with television, so we had to adjust our trajectory a little bit." At the time, there were talks to do a wrap-up movie to give fans closure, but nothing ever came of it.

4. The Society was canceled by Netflix even after they ordered a Season 2. The show finished with everyone in New Ham turning on Allie and Will. Then, in the "real" West Ham, we saw a memorial with all of the teenagers' names on it.

We also never found out who the father of Becca's baby was, and it haunts me to this day. The show was gearing up for Season 2 and figuring out how to start filming under COVID-19 protocols, but then they abruptly got canceled. Creator Christopher Keyser said while preparing Season 2, the writers talked a lot about "the reasons why the children of West Ham became the children of New Ham. What the cause of that was, [and] how they might return home."

5. Devious Maids was canceled after four seasons, and the series ended with Marisol disappearing right before her wedding to Peter.

The Season 4 finale of Devious Maids was setting up a ton of future storylines. Not only did Marisol disappear, but we got a mention of Dani's father. Dani's father was going to show up in Season 5 if the show got renewed, according to executive producer Sabrina Wind. Marisol's kidnapping was meant to "launch" fans into the new season with a "completely new story."

6. Freaks and Geeks only lasted one season, but launched so many notable careers. Due to its cancellation, the show finished with Lindsay ditching a summer school program and going with Kim to follow the Grateful Dead on tour.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, creator Paul Feig detailed where he thought every character would be if Season 2 had happened. He knew for certain that the show would've moved past high school and focused on the small town and "who gets out and who doesn't."

7. Dare Me heartbreakingly only lasted one season before it ended in 2020. So, the series finale now consists of Addy confronting Coach Colette and viewers learning in flashbacks that Colette and her husband might know exactly how Will died.

The decision to end Dare Me Season 1 this way was to keep readers of Megan Abbott's book on their toes alongside the TV audience. Megan explained, "We've all watched those things or read those things where it feels like you're just being twisted around just for the sake of being twisted around. And it's exciting when it happens, but it leaves you with an empty feeling afterwards." So, what could've been a promising start to a Season 2 just turned into another disappointing series cliffhanger.

8. Despite a devoted fanbase and critical acclaim, Hannibal was canceled after Season 3. So, the last seconds of the show featured Graham hugging Hannibal as the two of them went over a cliff.

Creator Bryan Fuller knew season 3 would likely be the last, but he was still exploring ideas for a season 4 when it was canceled. His dream was to be able to start telling Clarice Starling's story, and he wanted to cast a "Black or non-white [actor as] Clarice."

9. After four seasons, My Name Is Earl was suddenly axed following a Season 4 cliffhanger. Now, the series finale ends with Earl learning that he's Dodge's biological father and Darnell figuring out he isn't Earl Jr.'s dad.

The show was even so confident in returning for Season 4 that the last thing we see is a title card reading, "To be continued..." Following the cancelation, creator Greg Garcia made several vague comments about how "studio pressure" stopped him from telling Earl's story the exact way he wanted to. What really stung was the studio allowed Greg to end the season on a cliffhanger.

10. I Am Not Okay With This was canceled after only one season. So, the show ended on a HUGE cliffhanger, with Sydney meeting a mysterious man after she used her powers and killed Brad.

The creators of the show even had a final second season all ready to go before Netflix unexpectedly canceled the show due to the coronavirus pandemic. Creator Jonathan Entwistle hated leaving fans on a cliffhanger, and he even asked Netflix if he could "recut the last two shots" so there would be some closure, but they wouldn't let him.

11. Firefly was notably canceled by Fox after only a single season. Even though the series got a movie titled Serenity, the show's cliffhanger still sticks with fans. The original show ended with Early floating alone in space after he's ambushed by Mal.

Most shows have to deal with the cliffhanger they are dealt, but in the case of Firefly the show was able to live on thanks to Serenity and various comic books. While those stories didn't erase the initial disappointment of the show abruptly ending, it did help. Speaking about the cancelation, creator Joss Whedon said he was "heartbroken," and making Serenity was one of the hardest things he's done.

12. The OA wrapped after only two seasons on Netflix. The show ended on a massive cliffhanger with Prairie, Hap, and the others going into a dimension where they are on the soundstage of The OA TV show, and the actors are playing versions of their real-life selves.

The cancellation caused an outcry from fans of the series, considering it ended with so many unanswered questions. Jason Isaacs reflected on his experience on The OA, saying, "We made two seasons of maybe the most brilliant and original and imaginative show that I've been involved with in 32 years."

13. Teenage Bounty Hunters sadly ended after one season on Netflix. The last episode featured Sterling getting rescued after being taken by Dana, her mom's twin, and it was revealed that Sterling was actually Dana's biological daughter.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, creator Kathleen Jordan thanked "everyone who watched" Teenage Bounty Hunters and "thank you extra extra to the most ridiculously supportive fan base I've ever seen. Y'all make me laugh every day."

14. The Last Man on Earth came to an end in 2018, after four seasons. The show finished up with Tandy and the rest of the survivors setting up a new camp before they were suddenly surrounded by people who had been living underground.

After the show's cancelation, Will Forte said there was a plan for if the show had been renewed. He explained, "The way that we would have handled these people — basically they had been in this bunker and they went down when the virus had first started. They had some kind of medical expert or scientist who knew, 'At this certain point, the virus will be dormant. You'll be safe to get back out.' Then they see a bunch of stragglers — us. And we represent a real threat to them, because they'd thought everything was dead, so they quarantine us. We eventually communicate with them a little bit. They get comfortable with us. They're very nice people."

15. The criminally underrated series Carnivàle only lasted two seasons before HBO pulled the plug. The series ended with the carnival leaving New Canaan as we see Ben's body lying on Management's bed after he stabbed Justin.

The series was originally envisioned for a six-season run, so the storylines were significantly cut short. After Season 1, the creators had to cut a few characters and maximize the number of days they filmed in order to cut down on the overall budget. Following its cancelation, creator Daniel Knauf wrote a letter to HBO executive Chris Albrecht begging them to reconsider. It said, "Please reconsider this, because I think the next season is going to be the season."

16. Mindhunter was put on "indefinite hold" by Netflix after just two seasons, despite critical acclaim. If the show gets offically canceled, it will end with Ford being troubled by not solving the rest of the missing children's murders and the BTK strangler continuing his ways.

In 2020, Netflix announced that Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv were released from their contracts and that the move came because of executive producer David Fincher's busy schedule. Netflix said, "[David] may revisitMindhunter again in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn't fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own."

17. Moesha came to an end after only six seasons, and the show didn't have a proper series finale. So, it ended with a positive pregnancy test being found in Moesha's dorm room and her younger brother getting kidnapped.

The original plan was to have the pregnancy cliffhanger resolved on the Moesha spinoff The Parkers, but that never happened. Moesha was expected to appear on The Parkers to wrap up the storyline too.

18. The Following, starring Kevin Bacon, was canceled following a decline in ratings during Season 3. However, the show still didn't give viewers a complete ending. The show ended with Ryan faking his own death, seemingly killing Lisa, and then vowing to help Gwen raise her child.

Created by Kevin Williamson, the series never seemed to get off the ground and was always struggling to put together cohesive plotlines. However, the Season 3 finale essentially promised viewers that the show would have a fresh and bigger start if it should return, but it just never got the chance. Executive producer Alexi Hawley said once they found out the show was canceled they didn't change anything about the Season 3 finale in order to give fans closure.

19. My So-Called Life was suddenly canceled after one season, so it ended with Angela going off with Jordan, just as Brian realizes he's in love with her.

In an interview with Elle, creator Winnie Holzman said if Season 2 had happened, Angela would've chosen Jordan, saying, "I pictured a situation where Angela and Jordan are an item, Delia and Brian are an item, and Angela and Brian are constantly looking to each other for advice and help with their respective dysfunctional relationships."

20. Netflix's Spinning Out didn't make it past Season 1 before it was canceled. The series ultimately ended with viewers learning that Dr. Parker was in a secret relationship with Serena and was taking advantage of other young skaters. Plus, we never got to see Kat and Justin's freestyle routine.

When the Spinning Out Season 1 finale aired, Kaya Scodelario, who played Kat, didn't even know what was next for Kat and Justin. She said, "I begged the showrunner to tell us. Evan and I were like, 'Tell us what happened.' I really, really want to find out if we won or not." In a potential Season 2, Kaya also wanted to see Kat and Serena's relationship grow more.

21. Twisted finished its run of episodes after just a single season, so naturally a cliffhanger was inevitable. The show ended with viewers seeing a black screen and hearing a gunshot after learning that Charlie is Tess's biological son.

When the show was canceled in 2014, series star Avan Jogia didn't even know what happened next. He said, "When things come to an end like that, it's upsetting for fans and for me; I don't know what happens next either, and that's a bummer." While Avan didn't know what the writers were planning, he wanted to see Danny in a coma after being shot because it would've been wild to see what unfolded.

22. Crossing Jordan aired from 2001 to 2007, and despite lasting 117 episodes, NBC canceled the show without a proper ending. So, the series wrapped with the entire team being stranded in the mountains following a plane crash.

There were rumors that the series filmed two endings: one in case the show was canceled and one in case it was renewed. The series finale fans ended up seeing involved Jordan telling Woody she loved him and the team getting rescued. In 2020, the cast actually reunited to share stories about their time together and raise awareness and donations for Fair Fight.

23. And finally, Cursed, the Netflix series that followed Nimue from the Arthurian legend, was axed after Season 1. The series ended with Nimue falling into a waterfall after Iris shot her, and Merlin getting control of the sword.

Based on Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler's graphic novel, the series was in limbo on Netflix for nearly a year before it was officially canceled. At the time of release, Katherine Langford said there was so much more story to tell in Season 2. Katherine explained, "I feel like this [season] is really just the tip of the iceberg. There's a lot of talk about the sword this season, and I feel like it would be interesting to see just how deep Nimue's powers go and what kind of untapped power she has within."
